Blade Runner: The Contest
When I wrote about the film "Blade Runner," just over a year ago (http://underthehollywoodsign.wordpress.com/2010/04/18/blade-runner-nearly-three-decades-later-how-a-masterpiece-of-production-design-left-its-mark-on-los-angeles/), I never imagined it would be the most-read post on my blog, with 7,332 hits to date. After all, Under the Hollywood Sign mostly explores Hollywood history, particularly that of Beachwood Canyon, and has a largely local following. Yet week after week, people all over the world with no apparent connection to my documentaries or to Beachwood find my blog by typing blade runner in a search.
Therefore, I'm announcing a contest: send your critical essays (700-1000 words) on "Blade Runner" to me at hopeanderson09@gmail.com with "Blade Runner Contest" in the heading. I'll publish the winning entry on this blog; the writer will get an interview and a free DVD of "Under the Hollywood Sign." Deadline: June 15th, with the winner announced June 20th.
